hi
With a Garmin Nuvi 360 and a 1gb SD ram inserted, I am able to show pictures
from the SD card on the screen, but how can I access the MP3 files on the SD
for the player? I can only find the MP3 that are directly loaded to the mem
of the Nuvi

As I remember it, you should place the MP3's in a directory named as
in the nüvi (MP3, I guess)

You got a Nuvi 360 already?
I thought they weren't shipping until July?

Hi
Yes I got one. It works perfect, even indoor (within rooms with windows). I
also have used the POI loader, and it took a POI made for TOMTOM OK, it was
a POI with proximity points. Works fine.
But I am a little confused, on the right side is a jack connection. in the
manual it is indicated as a power input - but power input is made by the USB
plug (also from the net adapter). I wonder if it is a plug for a remote
speaker?

Regards Otto

The jack connection is for an external speaker/headphone, the "power
input" describtion in the manual is not correct.

Btw.
What I really miss from the unit is the track log functionality..

I'm using this all the time on my GPSMAP60CS unit, but on the Nuvi
series, have Garmin decided to drop this, meaning I now have to take
both units with me when I travel around.

Ever since I started using my first Garmin, the 12XL, have tracklog
been part of the package, now it's not, I think this is a stupid move..

What do other people say to this? Am I the only one who uses the
tracklog?

Certainly not, the data in the track log is very useful. I use it all
the time for reconstructing travels by road (times, places, etc.). The
saved tracks are the best tool for recovering details of travels and
developing waypoints and routes that will be used again later.

The displayed track is great when you're floundering around, semi-lost,
and want to see at a glance where you've been.

I'm using Tom Tom 5 Navigator and it neither displays or records tracks.
There is a very good chance that Tom Tom's shortsighted omission of
such an essential component of GPS software will cost them a customer in
the run. None of the Tom Tom products offer a track display or record a
history so I'm not going to move on to any of their newer products.

And in the mean time the GPS makers are focused on trivial crap like
incorporating a XM radios and MP3 players into a GPS. I don't get it.

Glad we are on the same page on this one...

I tried to email Garmin about this but they do not really seem to
listen.

I think that they would no doubt be loosing customers on this one, not
to mention the fact that a feature they had in all models back from at
least the 12XL is now suddenly an advanced item, only to be put into
the even more advanced/pricier series.

Just like you describe, I'm using the tracklog all the time.

Where did I go, where did I take this photo, what was that little
place. Not having the tracklog really moves the Nuvi series from being
a close to 100% score, down to 50, as I now have to take my MAP60CS
along all time just to record the track.

(If I'm trekking in the mountains etc. I still only use the 60CS,
because of its outdoor use design, water etc.)

I other wise love the Nuvi, but as you say I have no use for the MP3
player and some of the other stuff.

Darn...I was waiting for the Nuvi 360 because I didn't want to buy TomTom
because it was lacking a track log.
