Well I can confirm that the TT One does indeed work okay with 1gig and 2 gig
cards.
If the TT One does not recognise the card when powered on, its either a
compatibility issue with the specific card, or the card is faulty, but as you
managed to write the maps to it that's unlikely, or there is an issue with your
TT One. also I think unlikely... but possible.
May be worth reformatting the card (In FAT mode) and re-writing the maps again.
Are you sure you copied across all the files it needs to boot up when you copied
all the files across.?
AAMOI what's the make of the card.?

The TomTom is telling you that you have inserted a card with no TomTom
software or Data on it.
You need to back-up your old card and then transfer the backed-up files to
the new card.
You can do this from the original CD or just by copy and paste as
follows ---
Plug your TomTom, (with the old card in it), into your computer with a USB
cable.
Make sure your Temp Folder on your C Drive is empty.
Now go to, "My Computer", on your computer.
Find the TomTom disk, (it will be named, "TomTom Go", and double click it.
Now go to the top of the page that comes up and on the top toolbar click on,
"Edit" - then click, "Select all", - then click, "Copy".
Now you must go to the temp folder of your C drive and click on it.
Now go to Edit at the top toolbar and click on, "Paste".
This will copy the contents of your old TomTom disc, (card), to the temp
folder.
Now swap the old TomTom card with the new bigger card and, "Select all", in
the temp folder.
Now click copy.
Now select the TomTom card in My Computer and paste the contents you copied
onto the new card.
Job done.
