Hello:

I need help with GPS track 3D in Google Earth. I have a Garmin hand
held system and recently I have taken it with me on a small plane
flight for 20 minutes.

The Garmin GPS handheld unit saved a track log as a *.gpx file. I
transfered this file to my computer and started up MAPSOURCE. I can
view it there and in one of the options I can VIEW -> VIEW GOOGLE
EARTH and it work fine but no 3D detail. I all shows as a flat line
on the earth.

The plane went up to 10,000 ft and flew around for a good bit of time.
Is there a way to see in Google Earth or some other program the 3D map
of the flight? Google Earth is great because everyone can get the
program and they can pan and zoom around to their hearts content.

Is anyone here skilled enough to figure out this problem? Thanks
Christian

I had the same problem, but dont know if the fault is with Mapsource or
Google. You can transform your files on
http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/map?form=googleearth and then view them
correctly.

Fly safely!

In the Google Earth User Guide under "Using GPS Devices with Google Earth" I
read:

Importing GPS Data....Point 7.....However, if your GPS track was recorded
while hang gliding or flying, make sure this option is not selected so that
your points will appear as above-ground points.
