Garmin Data Cards - How to Erase Data
|

| I have two Garmin Data Cards with data which I wish to sell (64 MB and the
other 128 MB). Not sure how to erase the data so the two cards can be sold
blank (I do not have USB Data Programmer. I am using GPSMAP 276C and
MapSource V6.11.3)
Your help would be appreciated

Does it really matter if they are blank? I would think they would get
overwritten the first time the new owner downloads their maps.
I'm curious what you want for them-- I have a Streetpilot GPS with a
256 MB card which is overkill due to the 50 map limitation. I'd be much
better off with your two cards instead.

AFAIK there's no way to completely clean out a Garmin data card.
If you want to get rid of the licensed material, just upload one
of these free maps (e. g. Teneriffa or Gran Canaria [1]) - this
will at least clear all other map sets.

| I heard 1 minute in a microwave oven will erase data from a magnetic
field :)

| Thank you all for your comments and responces.
Mark Olson - you are absolutely right, perhaps I have been a little too
pedantic. I need to have at least, an absolute miimum of 256 MB for my
marine and land charts/maps. What if we were to exchange, my two cards (64MB
and 128MB) for your 256 MB with me paying the difference (i.e., 64 MB in my
favour).I live in Australia and the costs etc .. may not be feasible
however, If you are still interested, would you please email me direct
(please remove NO_SPAM PLEASE from my email address.
Dirk and Gaza - thank you for your comments/input.
Apologies to the gropu if any of the above is outside the group's protocol,
it was not intended that way.

Mark Zak- I'm interested in doing a swap. I've emailed you with _NO_SPAM
PLEASE_ removed from your reply-to address. If you didn't get my email,
replace tiny with visi and invalid with com in my reply-to address to
reply to me.
