Is that using the standard Garmin mini USB to USB A cable now? If so,
that has a USB A plug on the computer end you could use a USB extension
cable with a USB A jack (also called a socket) on one end and a USB A
plug on the other.

If it was for a semi-permanent installation, I'd wrap the mid cable
connector with electrical tape or put it in shrink tube to keep it from
coming apart.

I think some of the Garmin GPS receivers use the 5V power from the USB
port and some do not, the nuvi 360 is one that does not use it.

The Garmin mini USB to USB cable that came with my 76Cx does power the
receiver so I'm guessing that all the cables are the same and whether or
not the power it used is decided in hardware inside the receiver and
that there is no danger in using any mini USB to USB cable with any
Garmin receiver.

Mini USB A or Mini USB B - 4 pin or 5 pin ?

RS do a range of mini extension cables

<rswww.com>

Search for 'mini USB' in the search box on the opening page

A male to B male is around 3 quid + vat + p&p

CPC does a range of standard USB to mini USB cables but not mini to
mini.

<www.cpc.co.uk>

You don't need an account with CPC if you pay by credit or debit card at
the time of ordering .
