TRacking and auto-routing in one unit?
|

| Hi, I have a Garmin Etrex Vista, although it does the job nicely, it is
time to upgrade to a colour unit, with tracking ability as well as auto
routing.
I mainly use this unit in my 4x4 while off-road to follow tracks, or
track where I am (or have been) when on un-marked tracks.
I am not aware of the functionality of the other GPS's, Which units
should I compare or consider? Are Garmin the best at this?
TIA..

I use a Garmin 60CSx for offroading. For me, it's very usable on the dash
and with expanded memory, it'll save a LOT of tracks. I have both CS8 and
Topo. The topo maps are old but are still accurate in my area of PA. I used
the 3m adhesive garmin dash mount and it has held tight even while getting
beat around. Another nice feature with the 60 is battery life if you want to
take it out of the vehicle and hit the trail on foot. Nice option if you're
hitting trails that can eat a 4x4 and you have to hike out.
