Has anyone used this site before: http://everytrail.com . Just went
to San Francisco Golden Gate Park over the weekend. Through GPS, I
tracked my travels and uploaded them to the site. Now I can see the
exact whereabouts I made on the EveryTrail map. It's pretty neat. I'm
just kind of proud of my new discovery and GPS achievement and wanted
to see what other ppl think. I just wish the satellite images were
closer to the ground. Thanks.

Yes, there are several similar sites based on user uploaded GPS
tracklogs. The main distinguishing feature of EveryTrail is the
incorporation of digital camera photos linked to the right locations by
synchronizing the photo date/time with the tracklog times.

The GoogleEarth images used by these sites show more detail in the San
Francisco area than in most other parts of the world. Zooming in to my
house I can already see which car was parked in the driveway when the
image was created and that there wasn't anyone swimming in the pool.
How much more detail do you really want to see and what are the impacts
on privacy - even if the images are not real-time?

Wow, so you think the imges on EveryTrail employ some of the most
detailed imagery? That's good to know. Thanks for the input Peter.

Not at all what I said. What I did say was that the GoogleEarth
images, which are used by a wide variety of websites, incl. everytrail,
are more detailed in the SF area and selected other US cities than they
are in the rest of the world. Therefore it seemed odd to complain
about lack of detail specifically about a trip within SF.

BTW, it's considered proper Usenet etiquette to identify your
connection with any products/websites/etc. that you endorse in a post.
I note that you have done so in other newsgroups. Please do so here as
well.

Peter, just to clarify, I am with EveryTrail and wanting to get some
user feedback on the product. I greatly appreciate your thoughts.

Kind regards,
