What is improved and worthwhile upgrading from Explorist? I have a 600.

Cheers.

yeah i know what you mean

Been to the Magellan website, not much info on the tech side of it. I
guess it just a case of going back to the site from time to time.

They're supposed to use National Geo maps... which would be a real
boon to some ... folks especially if they allow 7.5 minute scales...

but.. not much info available on this...

I am not that worried about maps as I have the Aus Topo maps and they are
pretty good for most areas that I go to, fabulous in some areas and I have
added my own info as well, but I would like readdy from cards to be faster
and transfering from GPS to be faster (mind you fo maps you only do it
once).

Don't get me wrong, the 600 is excellent but I am a gear freak and I like
better stuff!!

Cheers.

Gadget freak? Then the Triton 2000 model must be for you.
http://www.gpsoz.com.au/magellan/triton.htm

Such wonderous features as a touch screen, flashlight, MP3 player and 2
megapixel camera!

I already have those gadgets separately and they are much better than the
Triton 2000 provides.

If the display is as it's claimed, it would be much better for
handlebar mounted applications. (bikes/ATVs etc)
Garmin & DeLorme currently have the best screens for direct sun lit
viewing.
(IMHO based on color Lowrance, Magellan, Garmin, DeLorme & Bushnell
units I've tried anyway)
My newer Lowrance & Garmin GPS units have SiRF chipsets, & I've tried
the new Garmin High performance
receivers, they lock on quicker and work with a weaker signal.
My other hope for the new Tritons is that they support using &
displaying multiple tracks at the same time.
Garmin & Lowrance units do, DeLorme PN20 does if I copy them to draw
layer.

Mind you if I wanted the lightest weight maybe it would be an option.
