Chances are you lost the almanac when the batteries died! It means
you will have to go through the same process as the first time you
turned it on,,, give it a clear sky and let it do its thing for at
least 15 minutes!
The GPS Satellites cover the whole earth,, there is no poor places as
long as you have a clear look at the sky,, bottom of canyons, tall
buildings, trees, etc can make a poor spot locally!
WAAS satellites are another thing,,, the N/E now has poor access to
WAAS satellites! Can't remember if the 45 can use WAAS???

The 45 is a single channel receiver that sequences through up to 8
satellites serially. It could take a couple of hours or possibly even
longer in good conditions to autolocate.

No it was discontinued long before WAAS was available.
