Need GPS data logger recommendation for Alpine expedition

| I hope to sponsor "Via Alpina" expedition with GPS/mapping hard-
software and seek recommendations for a SiRFstarIII data logger - Low
Power. Ideal unit to run for at least a day without battery
maintenance. Bluetooth would be nice for integration with software
running on smartphone, but must be easy to turn off bluetooth to save
power consumption. In this situation, user will be focused on trek but
would like to check position every now and then without having to stop
and acquire sats. The trek is 3000 mile loop passing by numerous
mountain huts and villages where full battery charge/replacements and
memory downloads and be attended to. Other considerations weight, ease
of use, resistance to cold, wet weather. Also interested in quick
battery charge options (i.e. hand crank) and supplemental solar power
assist/trickle charge options.

3000 miles? Thats a pretty impressive trek!
My personal choice would be a 60CSx with external antenna for a little extra
satellite reception, but that's a personal choice; I'm sure others will
chime in with their recommendations. Main disadvantage is lack of
bluetooth, so it may not be what you are looking for. Also, for this kind
of situation I would like it to be capable of easily using lithium energizer
batteries, for the low temperature capability; the 60CSx will work with
them, but it's a little bit of a hassle, which would be irritating on a trek
I think.
My main reason for jumping in is I just came across this link:
