Author No voice audio on tomtom nav 6 and Dell Axim 50

Friend has tomtom Nav 6 running on her Dell Axim PDA everything is fine but
she just cant hear any voices! the voices are on the SD card as confirmed in
Tomtom Home software, navigator is all up and working, route planning,
everything else is fine, she just cant hear any voices!
Shes tried selecting different voices and has ensured the volume is up full
but still nothing.
Anyone any ideas ?
