Author Question about IFinder Trails

I have been using an ETrex Legend for about a year, but am considering
a Lowrance IFinder H20C for my next GPS purchase. I like the ability
to store data and maps on SD cards, a feature lacking on the lower end
Garmin units. I have a couple of questions that the Lowrance owner
manuals do not address. In regards to Trails, what exactly does the
IFinder record? The Active Tracklog in a Garmin ETrex includes LAT,
LONG, ELEV, DATE, and TIME for each track point, allowing calculation
and display of speed and elevation profiles in addition to horizontal
position. Do IFinder Trails record all of the same data as the
ETrex?

The IFinder seems to offer a lot of features, although I am a little
disappointed that they make the PC data cable a $40 extra cost option
(Garmin includes this cable with the ETrex Legend at no extra cost).

I don't use the trails feature on my iFinder so I can't answer that
question for you but there are a couple of guys on the geocaching forums
and Yahoo groups that are pretty sharp on the iFinders. As far as the
data cable, unless you plan on interfacing the iFinder to a computer for
navigating you don't need the data cable, routes, waypoints, and tracks
are transferred back and forth between the gps and the sd card. That's
one of the things I like about the ifinder, you can keep your waypoints
in separate files on the card for different areas and load and delete
them as needed.
