Author TomTom v5.210 Cannit get any USA maps to work

Running TomTom 5.210 on a PPC. Most European maps work OK but when I try
to install any USA maps TomTom reports 'No maps found'.

The PPC (Medion MPNA100) will not run TomTom v6 so I cannot try that.

Does anyone know a version of USA maps that work with TomTom 5.210 or
any other GPS mapping software with working USA maps that will run on a
pocket PC?

Why not? I have TT6 running fine on the MDPNA 100. Admit things were a bit
slow when setting initial preferences though.

The installation and set-up of TT v6 seemed to lock the machine. Which
version are you running?

Yes, seemed to lock my machine too. I just selected the appropriate option
and waited for the short while before it caught up - after that it seems to
run without any problems.

Got TT v6.010 to load and run OK but I cannot get any other maps to work
other than the one supplied. I have copied various v6 maps to the root
of the SD card but they are not seen in the 'switch maps' section.
Googling is not much help either.

Anyone?

Each map needs to be placed into its own named folder along with the POI
files for that map. Copy the structure of your one working map.

That has worked for the USA and Canada map but I still have a problem

I installed two more maps, Italy & France using the same method but they
are not picked up by TT. If I browse to the map folders with the SD card
connected to my PC's card reader all of the files in each folder are
seen, when I browse the map folders through ActivSync or through File
Explorer on the PDA I can't see any files in the Italy or France folders
but I can see files in the USA and Canada folder.
