Author Nextar GPS?

My 82-year old mother just bought a Nextar GPS (probably a Q3) and I'm
wondering if this is a decent unit for her. She'd be using it for short
trips of 50 miles or less and will rely heavily on the voice prompts and
route re-calculation if she misses a turn.

I've played with it a little and it seems a bit rough around the edges
compared to the Nuvi 350 and 680 that I have more experience with. Would
she be better off one of the Garmins? Budget would be around $300.
