TomTom mains chargers, advice please.

| I was thinking about buying a mains charger for my 'TomTom One' but I just
remembered that my Motorola phone charger also uses a mini USB connection,
the phone chargers output is rated at 5v and 550ma. Can anyone advise
whether it will be safe to use instead of purchasing a genuine TomTom
charger.
Many thanks in advance

The USB connection is standard as far as power pins go. I use mine
whatever comes at hand. The data pins may be a different story. Just
take a voltage meter - power shall be at the same sockets (the outer
ones on mini USB).

I have TomTom one, and have used the USB lead, my motorola V3 charger(5V
550mA), my motorola headset charger (5V 150 mA) and a "Scotty" solar
powered USB charger (~5~V, ??mA), all with no problems so far. The
charging time varies, but using the 550mA the charge stops ok when full.
The others can't run the display and charge at the same time.
