Author TomTom map coverage: UK v WE

I don't understand - and can't find on the TomTom site - what the level of
detail coverage is for country maps compared with the WE map. I see that
there is a later UK map version available than the one I have, and as I am
going to take my 510 to Italy next month, I was wondering if a new WE would
update the UK, and give me detail for Italy, or would I have to get an
updated UK and a separate Italy map to keep full detail and postcode search?

Sorry if this has been asked before - couldn't find it in the archives.

TIA

Tim

A country map is just that, a single country map. The WE map is a
contiguous map of all those countries that it covers with the same
level of detail as a country map.

Thanks Darren

Cynic that I am, I didn't expect that the low WE cost could possibly include
the detail on all the separate Europe maps. Of course, I did find it on the
TomTom site after I posted the question, but thanks for confirming.

Yes... because national maps have (generally a 'plus' version) all the major
european roads described. This means redundant information not necessary
with a single WE map.
