Hi Sid,
Unless there is a lot of road building and other changes affecting
navigation there is no need to update the basic mapping in your Navigator.
You can continue to use it with old maps for a long time. Even when there
are changes in the environment which are not in the GPS data base a sensible
lookout at road signs should stop you from driving the wrong way up a one
way street!
After several years of use it may well be a good idea to update but by then
the hardware will be cheaper so why not change that as well.
