Looking to upgrade the memory on my Tomtom 510 to 4gb. Has anyone try
this before if so any specific brand of memory I should be buying?

Thanks

Check first but I think TomTom Support recommend SD cards no larger than
2Gb.

In other posts I've read of some people getting 4Gb to work - but there are
more negative than positive experiences.

I upgraded to a 2Gb Sandisk Ultra II SD and it seems to perform a bit
better - possibly due to the higher read/write speeds over a standard SD
card.

I upgraded to 512Mb then had all kinds of weird problems when I went from
6.510 to 6.52x, when occasionally my 510 would turn itself on after turning
it off - and once that happened it couldn't be turned off at all without a
paper clip reset.

Then I upgraded to a Sandisk II 2Gb SD card when I got the Western Europe
map and now its fine with the latest software. My conclusion is that the
cheapest SD cards. *might* give problems with read/write performance.

Sorry, not quite the question you asked, but may be of interest. I
understand that there are file format differences above 2Gb, so it probably
depends on how TomTom have done it.

You could always try asking support, but I doubt that you would get an
answer.
