Author Using City Navigator V7 and MapSource?

I have City Navigator North America V7 and MapSource (recently
upgraded to version 6.12.4) on installed on Windows XP. In the last
year I have loaded some of the City Navigator maps on my Garmin GPSMAp
60csx.

I recently tried to view City Navigator maps on my PC using MapSource
but cannot seem to find what to click on in MapSource to locate the
City Navigator maps. I see many City Navigator .img files installed in
the C:\Garmin\CNNA7 directory.

I am wondering if some past registry cleanup could have altered things
or I just am not seeing the way. I have done some searching but not
found an area that helps. Can someone give advice on what might be
wrong or point to a tutorial?

Look in the upper left when the Mapsource program is open. There may be a
drop down menu for you to select.

I have tabs named Maps, Waypoints, Routes, and Tracks. Under Maps
there is nothing listed below Name, Area Size. At the bottom it says
Map Set Name: and this is blank.

I have never done on any newer than StreetPilot III to know if there is
any difference between SP-III and newer Garmin, but this is what I have =
been
doing for years.

- Install MapSource and City Navigator on computer

- Fire up MapSource then select City Navigator

- If you have enough space on memory, or you wanna select ALL BLOCKS
(regions) then use the "Map Tool" to select ALL or whatever block you =
wanna
transfer to the GPS

- After done selecting, select "Transfer" -> "Send To Device" and it will
send all the selected to the GPS.

- If the street-Level map is UNLOCKED then you are ready to go

- If the street-level-map is LOCKED then you can't use the map. When =
you
turn on the GPS it will tell you that the map is locked.

If you saved your previous map selections, they would be in *.gdb files,
you might search hour hard drive for those.

The actual map file you created would normally be named gmapsupp.img and
would not be found on your system unless you copied it there from the
GPS receiver.

You can download the MapSource User's Manual here:

Mine is located above those tabs. Look under where it has "file>edit>find.
It gives me a choice within the drop down menu of:

North American City Select v4.01
City Select North America v7
City Navigator North America v7
and my most current:
City Navigator North America v8

Yep, been loading the updates, etc since awhile back when I was using the
ol' GPSV. Now I have the Streetpilot 2610 which uses the City Navigator
software. It will really give you a no joy if you try to use the wrong map
software designed for the gps. Don't ask how I know that ;)
Good Luck!!

Thanks for the help from many. I am now remembering things I forgot
about using MapSource and City Navigator. To view my maps in
MapSource, I had to reinstall City Navigator. I chose the "Repair"
option, and I seem to have things working again.
