| Without looking at performance or review I bought Tevion GPS and am
finding it difficult to use. I mean if the unit is switched off for a
long time and when you switch on it takes a long time to connect with
satellite, more than normal GPS timing. I was using my friends Tom Tom
GPS and within seconds it connects. Anyone have any clue for this
issue, otherwise am planning to return this back sine it is not
performing well.

| TomTom usually update there satellite co-ordinates on a weekly bases. They
recommend downloading these updates on a weekly basis. Thats why the tomtom
can quickly connect to the satellite when turned on.
I'm not sure how the Tevion/Aldi one works but If there is software that
comes with it, see if there are any updates available for the GPS. Maybe the
Tevion one has a similar feature to the TomTom

How long is a long time and are you comparing like with like when you
borrowed the Tomtom?
The following is Tomtom information
In the following cases it can take up to 5 minutes to find your current
position:
You start your TomTom device or GPS receiver for the first time.
You start your TomTom device or GPS receiver after not using it for a
longer time.
You start your TomTom device or GPS receiver after it has been relocated
without using it (e.g. after travelling by plane or train).
On older Tomtom models the time to lock could be considerably longer for
the above situations.
What you are seeing is normal for a system that has been switched off
for a long time.

My hassle with the tevion gps is that the manual does not tell me much.
I want to know what all the little symbols mean (Supermarket
trolleys,trees,eyes,
dog?,thing like sun near lights etc)book does not
explain.also unit can display ebooks, video, pictures, audio. but does
not explain how to put or what form to put on another sd card .
ie what sort of ebooks.
It uses wheris but I dont know what software drives it
There is no info anywhere on the net that I can find
The map data is on an sd card

Make use of the SD card that you use in the digital camera. Remove the
SD card provided by ALDI and insert the one that has pictures. Switch
it on and go to pictures and click on it and it will take you to
folder and click on it and it will take you to the pictures. They have
provided a CD which has Microsoft SYNC software download that and
install it. Any ebook or video you want to transfer you can do that by
connecting your GPS using the USB cable provided to the computer/
laptop and then microsoft SYNC will detect the GPS and in case your SD
card had sufficient space you can download videos and ebook using
microsoft SYNC.
Hope this clarifies your question
