Is there a way to leave the power on but have a Garmin 60CSX stop
gathering data points (both to track and to mem card)?

On the "Track Log" page of my (essentially similar) 76CSx, there's a
Track Log On/Off selection; doesn't that do what it says (I've never
tried it)?

That turns off the collection of points into track memory, if you are
also logging track points to the microSD card, you would have to turn
that option off also.
