Author Finding Addresses with Lowrance Mapcreate

I got this software with my Airmap 2000, but it's been pretty useless
for me so far. Has anyone been able to get it to locate an address using
the Find function?

When using this software loaded on a computer, I can't get it to find an
address. When I hit the find button and select the Address tab, I enter
my street number, street name (without the word "Street") and it comes
back with a list of 20 possibilities saying there are more results than
can be shown.

When I add in my state, it ignores the filter and still gives me results
for NM, CA, FL, GA, LA and TX. When I add my City, it says 0 results.

When I load the map on to the GPS unit, it gives results by county, not
town. That doesn't help find a particular Main Street. I can highlight
the address with the mouse on the map fine.

I spoke with a Lowrance rep at the AOPA Expo, and he said there's some
"town mode" that needs to be chosen. I can't find any menu or manual
reference for that. Lowrance Customer Support (sic.) only replies that
another company made the map software, so they don't care.

I recommended this system to someone who has a aviation banner towing
business since he needs to sometimes fly banners over a particular
address, but can't use the turn-by-turn directions that most GPS units
give.

Thanks for any help

I can't tell you what your problem with the software is, but I have no
trouble finding addresses and when I spoke to a friend that is also
using the software he said he is having no problems either.

The only thing I could suggest is maybe it got a glitch when it was
installed. You could try reinstalling it, it might be worth a shot.

Thanks for the reply Don,

I installed it on a different computer just now as you recommended, and
I get the same result. I did already have it on 2 other computers and
had this problem. I notice the help file only gives information on
finding waypoints, landmarks and aviation points, not addresses.

One thing I didn't do on my earlier installations was to disable the
virus scanner as the installation program says. I did do that this time
though with no improvement. I can't believe a program written in 2006
wants virus scanning disabled in order to be installed. That's just
plain irresponsible.

At least I now know that it's possible to work correctly since it works
for you and your friend.
