Old Vista & Topo maps

| I have an old Garmin eTrex Vista that takes MapSource MetroGuide Europe
maps. Could anyone tell me if I can load Topo Great Britain maps into it, or
is that only for later Vista's like the HCx.
Thanks,
MP

You can. See the compatibility list on this page:
http://www8.garmin.com/cartography/mapSource/topogb.jsp
Not sure I'd bother with Topo GB at all myself though. I suggest you use
the MapSource Map Viewer link on the top right of the above page to take
a look at the maps before you splash out on them...

If your Vista is an older one with the 'grey scale' screen, you might
find the topo to be a bit unsatisfactory, as minor roads, streams, and contour
lines that are the same thickness, but display in different colours on a PC,
will, on the Vista display as the same colour (dark grey) and line thickness
(one pixel), which may lead to some confusion if you are in an area unfamiliar
to you.

Yep! the 'grey scale' thing has struck me as I have looked into it a bit
more, and I think I agree it would lead to some confusion on my poor old
'grey scale' screened Vista so I'll probably abandon the idea. I think I'm
about ready for a new GPS anyway so upgrading to something that has a colour
screen would be logical.
Thanks for the help,
MP
