If I turn the device off with external power connected then it won't
turn back on without the power being re-connected, unless I do a re-set.
A bit annoying since I don't always have a pin handy. Does anyone know
of a fix or work-around for this? BTW I'm not using any of the battery
saving options.

Sounds like the ttsystem file has a glitch.

What you are describing should not happen.

Why not connect the TT1 to your PC and check for updates using TTHome.

P.S. Before connecting using the TTHome software, make a complete vack up of
your TT Device and save the files in a folder on your desktop.

That way if it all turns to crap, you haven't lost your map folders.

Do you use an sd card?

If so, try popping the sd card slightly. Then press the start button. As
soon as the unit starts to boot, reinsert the sd card completely.

I also asked TomTom, and got a prompt reply, so maybe they know of this.
They suggest making a back-up (of course) then deleting a number of
files in the device root directory. Then re-install the application.
I've done this so let's see if it helps.
Thanks for the other suggestions
