This post may concern you, if you are interested in freeware coordinate
conversion tools and if you are not allergic to command prompt. It might
interest you also, if you are interested in simple to use yet powerful
command line formula evaluator including geodetic functions.

I wrote several years ago a coordinate conversion tool GeoConv. GeoConv is
based on old technology, but it is working perfectly under various
Windows-versions.

I have recently published on the web a new program E1FILTER, a data
manipulation application, which can be used to convert, filter, sort and
otherwise manipulate binary and text data files. E1FILTER is based on the
same old technology as GeoConv, but it is fully based on a formula
evaluator. This formula evaluator recognizes wide set of functions and
operators plus provides the possibility to define user defined functions.

Both GeoConv and E1FILTER are powerful applications, but _not_ easy to
setup, study and start to use. Therefore these applications are not
recommended for temporary or occasional use.

In order to help studying and testing the formula evaluator, on which
E1FILTER is based, I wrote a tiny application E1.EXE. This application can
be used to perform all the functions and operations of the formula evaluator
in the command line.

Later I realized, that E1.EXE could be handy tool as is too, not only as
E1FILTER's supporting tool - especially for geodetic functions. With E1.EXE
you can define your own user defined functions to perform your own local or
tailored coordinate conversions easily in the command line. You can also use
predefined datums or grids or define you own datums and grids and then
define user defined functions using these.

e.g. user defined function DEG2UTM base on evaluators general coordinate
conversion function:
E1 DEG2UTM:(N60 23 06.38474; E19 50 53.29237)
Returns: 6694856;436502;0;34V

If you decide to check any of these applications and need any help in
installing, studying or using these applications, please don't hesitate to
contact me for help. You find my email-address from my home page:

Please let me also know, if you find any errors or if you come up with any
development idea.
