Yes it is compatible, but no, Metroguide 5 does not do auto-routing in the
GPS. Metroguide 4.01 was the last version that would auto-route in the
unit. Need City Select for that now.

| Don't worry... auto-routing is not all it's cracked up to be.
You can manually create a route with MetroGuide (in MapSource). In
many, many cases the route will be superior to what City Select will
autoroute.
I like to travel backroads (motorcycle) and MetroGuide has them all...
City Select has DROPPED eighty-percent of the back and off road map
data.

Off-Road, yes, but I have yet to find a road in Metroguide 4 that is not in
City Select 6 in any of my travels. Can you provide some examples? I don't
doubt you, although maybe the 80% number, but I keep hearing this claim
without seeing it. I know it was true in early versions of City Select, but
I don't think it is anymore. I am fairly certain that current versions o
Metroguide and City Select have identical maps, but that is because they
both use Navteq where the 4.01 version of Metroguide did use Teleatlas as
it's data source, so one would expect some differences.
