| If anyone is interested I'm selling my Garmin MAP76S GPS for £200 as new -
see Amazon.co.uk for details. Have bought the MAP76CS (Double the price) and
not worth it !! but the colours are nice.

Everyone's different I guess. I bought a 76cs and I think that it was
worth every penny.

Hi Steve
I agree with you it IS a great machine and I would not swap it BUT I really
doubt it is worth ywice the price (almost) of the B & W version especially
as almost everything else is the same (GUI excluded)
Regards

Actually, I did the same as you Brian. I had the 76S for a year and
thought that the user interface sucked *big* time. I found it very hard
to use and not intuitive at all. I bought the 76CS for around $375 after
rebate (I was lucky and hit it just at the right time) and sold the 76S
on Ebay for around $175 (I think).
It's worth it for me because now I use it and don't have to carry a
manual around to remember how to use it. Plus I find that I use the
auto-routing on the roads quite frequently. Actually, my "better half"
has it and is using it at this moment to get her to a place in Philly.
That's a big city and neither one of us, or the woman she's going with,
is familiar with the city but I'm not worried. I'm confident that the
unit will get them directly to the Hotel even in Philly.
I'd much rather pay the $400 for a unit that is usable as opposed to
$200 for one that I want to throw as far out into a lake as I possibly
can. ;-)

Wow. Yeah, I agree! That's rather pricey! Must have been a riot using
it in a plane?

Especially as I had an external arial stuck to the window !!
However the captain announced over the radio that if we got lost then I
would be able to help - it all went down with a laugh. BTW the company was
GLOBESPAN and the pilot was the most communicative I've ever flown with -
Really helpful and interested. And this AFTER 7/11
Cheers
