GPSMap 60CS. I will probably use it in my car mostly. I could use it
outside, walking or hiking. What do you think for using it in a car?
Thank you.

I love mine. I have a suction windshield mount, power adapter and City
Select.

It works perfectly in my car. Take care that your mount is close to the
windsheald to have free access to the sattelites. Or you should use a
cabeled magnetic antenna clipped to the roof and connected to the unit.
The routing is safe (with City Select) and the tracking information
sometimes really useful. Good luck!

Mine works great in UK but the 60CS cost me £325 I also had to shell out
another £170 for City Select, and £15 for an external antenna which solves
the problem of having it on the dash.

All together it has cost me £510 but then I use it for walking/flying &
sailing, if it's purely for in the car I would consider a buying a Tom Tom
In Car Nav system which would cost you half the price.

You might want to also look at the Garmin Quest which is more geared to
car use but is suitable for hiking and other activities. Unlike the 60
series, it comes with the CitySelect maps and car mount/power cable
included so the overall price is considerably lower and it provides
voice directions rather than just beeps. It also has more memory than
the 60c/cs but doesn't have the magnetic compass or pressure sensor of
the cs (I carry a small compass on my keychain anyway and have found
the altimeter based on GPS to be of more than sufficient accuracy).

I agree, go with the Quest or the iQue, both from Garmin. The voice
navigation is slick. To me the 60CS is for outdoor activities and then you
can use it in your car as a side benefit.

The original poster also mentions outside use, walking or hiking. I
don't believe the iQue is very appropriate for this purpose. Too
fragile, short battery life.
