Unless you want to drop a ton of money on the 7500, which is overkill for
your average vehicle. :/ I am surprised Garmin hasn't offered a DR
option on the 27x0 line.

I note the posh 7200 and 7500 models use a FM transmitter for the radio and
audio book functions. Garmin may have problems with this in the UK - they
will be illegal to use because transmitting a radio signal requires a
license.
While a blind eye is cast on casual users who privately import FM
transmitters to use with mp3 players, Garmin will have to sort out things
with the powers that be...

What? No movies nor "Desperate Housewives"? Guess that would not be
legal in many places.
In my mind they've gone too far in an "all-in-one" device (well, at
least for me -- since I already have MP3 player, audio books, XM radio
in my car .. plus NOAA weather radio via a ham transceiver).

Actually, for when you travel and need a rental car, these are great
features. The 2730 is looking awfully attractive...

The realities are likely:
o MP3: I suspect you must load them into some sort of card
o XM radio: Must have a subscription (and those are tied to the
particular radio)
o Size: These look to be larger than I would carry on a trip just to use
in a rental car.
Nope: Not for moi :) But if you like it, go for it!

For the 7xxx series, yes. For the 2730 it looks like they are loaded
on the internal memory.

True for any XM radio.

Hence why I referred to the 2730 and not the 7xxx series.
