Hi,

I have a Garmin GPS 10 (Bluetooth) and an Axim x50v. Everything was working
fine, then I "upgraded" to Windows Mobile 5. For the life of me, I cannot
get these two to hook up now. Garmin says the software is compatible and it
does run perfectly. It just won't connect.

When I turn on the Axim's Bluetooth, I can click "New Partnership" and the
GPS is identified. I click "Next" (no passkey) and then select the "Serial
Port" service.

I can see the LED blinking on the Garmin change speeds indicating
communication.

Then when I run the Garmin software, it just sits there "Searching COM1",
"COM2", "COM3". It never connects.

Does anyone have any ideas what I'm doing incorrectly? I'm going to have a
miserable day at work tomorrow w/o my maps.

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

Dave

Can you check the serial Port number?

Can you configure that manually? Or try any other software to check
the connection?

Hi,

It all looks very different in Windows Mobile 5. It seems that now the COM
ports are limited to COM1-COM5, but for some reason the Garmin is looking
for COM7-COM8. This was not the case in the old OS.

I would think that this is the problem, but I cannot see where to get these
settings changed. Thx.

Ok, so BT is something from com1-5. Try to connect with a terminal
program on all those ports. Do you receive data at all? Then switch
off the GPS. Data stops? This should identify the port used.

With that info you now know to configure your software to what port.
Next question to Garmin tech support then could be very specific.
