I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what the pick-up sensitivity between
Garmin's patch antenna and their quad helix is. I'm using a Etrex
Legend (patch antenna) in the woods and losing all the satellites due to
overhead tree cover. So far the unit has been unexceptable for the
reason I bought it.

TIA

This may be a good place to start to compare the benfits of each type of
antenna;

From my own experience, my GPS60 (quad helix) is better than those Foretrex
(patch) units. But there are so many variables, that you cannot
categorically state that quad helix is better than patch.

Perhaps your retailer would exchange your unit so you can make a comparison.
