Timestamps in saved track logs - GPS 60 vs Geko 201

| I want to get a handheld GPS to take with me on holiday and use to
record the location of photos.
To do this, I will need timestamps for each point. Also, to cover a
full two week holiday, I will (I assume) need to make use of saved
tracks.
As far as I can tell, the Geko 201 includes timestamps in saved track
logs, but I have been unable to find out if the GPS60 does or does not
do this. I'm looking at the GPS60 because of better battery life and
higher capacity.
What I have found is the GPS60 does save the time with waypoints, which
the Geko does not do.
Does anybody know what the deal is with the GPS60 and timestamps in
saved track logs?
Any other advice?

I've just looked at a GPS60 track log, and it does contain a time-stamp
(day/month/year hour/min/sec) when viewed on a PC.

But was that the *active* log, or one that had been saved *on the
receiver*? Many Garmin units include timestamps in the active log, but
strip the time stamps from the track log when they are saved on the
receiver.

You're right. Only the active log has time-stamps.
So the remaining question is, do you need to save any tracks?

Why not just press the 'mark' button when you take a photo. you can then
also enter a comment about what it is you've just shot. The comment field
automatically defaults to a time-stamp which you can edit and add to.
How can you tie in track log points to the photos you're taking?

| This is definitely an issue. Your options are to:
(a) take along a laptop
(b) buy a data logger
(c) download the track to someone else's computer and email it to
yourself
BTW, .gpx files preserve timestamps. TopoFusion can automatically
record the location of digital photos, as discussed in my book and
here...

May not be possible. OP?

Probably the best solution.

Also may not be possible.

Does this work outside of the US? Entering my coords in the UK does not
work.
(Yes, we have satellite coverage here, and electricity, and have even heard
of McDonalds and Disney).

| TopoFusion only offers LandSat coverage (16 meters/pixel) outside the
US. You can access it with the drop-down box in the upper right corner.
