I had the worst experience the other night... I was on the highway with
my wife and kids and a fully packed car. The drivers-side rear tire
blew out and I had to call a towing company because the shoulder of the
highway was so narrrow, I would have been killed if I had attempted to
change my tire there. So when I was trying to explain to the service
company where I was, I could not give them my exact location. There is
no way on the C330 (that I have found anyway) to determine your exact
location... be it coordinates or street, city and state. Hopefully, I
am the one with the flaw and somehow missed that feature rather than
the GPS not being capable of giving you your exact location.

While I don't think it's possible for the 330 to show lat/long it
certainly shows you your current location in reference to other roads or
cities or exits. I've reported my position as 6 miles south of Hays on US
183 as my GPS indicates. You should be able to give them a location to
within a 1/2 mile which is VERY close directions for a tow truck driver. I
know I've been one in the past ;)

I don't think the c33 is very good about showing current position
either. Unlike the old amber StreetPilot, the c330 doesn't show next
exit "X.x miles to Sample Blvd." unless you're exiting on a route.
It's not even that easy to see that info on the map while you're
driving (unless you're not following a route and the map is situated
"North Up".

I happened upon an accident this past weekend on I-15 between Las
Vegas and Baker, CA and wasn't paying attention to which exit I had
just passed and didn't have enough info to give a report.
Fortunately there were other people there who had the location.

If the trip computer screen would at least tell the next exit on the
banner at the top of the screen, that would give you and emergency
responders something to work with.

Maybe I'm missing something here.

My experience has been that your description about the C330 not showing
the next exit while following a specific mapped route is correct. And
you're correct that it DOES show this when NOT following a route.

So, to answer the OP's question --- couldn't he have just set the C330
to stop tracking his route and set it to not follow a route, so that it
shows how far he is from the next exit?

I haven't noticed that info being displayed in either case. Let me
double-check and post a followup.
