This is normal if the track you're saving is discontinuous. Say you go
somewhere ("A") while recording on the Active track but then turn off
the receiver while going home. Then you later go to a different
location ("B") while again recording on the Active track. The Active
track displayed on your screen will correctly show the path from Home -
A and a separate line from Home - B.
Unfortunately when you turn this into a Saved track there isn't any
provision to include a gap in the path, so the Saved track will display
a line from Home - A - Home (along a straight line rather than the path
you took) - B. So any gaps that exist in the Active track will turn
into straight lines in the Saved track.
How to avoid this depends on what you're using the Saved tracks to do.
I usually use them to display specific local trails that aren't on any
MapSource maps. To do that I make sure that the Active track I'm
saving doesn't have any discontinuous gaps. If it isn't convenient to
record the Active track without gaps then I use MapSource or other PC
software to edit the Active track and split it into sections so there
aren't any gaps in an individual section and create a Saved track for
each section.
