Question for those of you who are much smarter than I. My wife got me
a garmin 72 for our anniversery so I went looking for accessories. I
saw the data cable online but it appears to be serial only. Is there
a USB version? I have a laptop but it doesn't have any legacy ports.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Bill

The interface on the GPS 72 is compatible with RS-232 using the NMEA
and Garmin protocols. If the only serial port available on your laptop
is USB then you need to purchase both the PC cable and a USB <-> RS-232
adapter cable. These are readily available from a variety of
manufacturers.
