Author c330 voice prompt problem

I recently upgraded my software to ver 4.8 and now I only get the voice
prompt for directions about every 4th or 5th time I use the unit. Has
anyone had this problem. I tried restoring defaults and even reset to
factory settings but nothing works. I do have attention tone on everything.
Not too useful when you do not get voice directions. Thanks!

I installed 4.8 with no problems. The voice prompts are definitely
different - mostly that the "last" prompt before a turn no longer has
a distance - it just says "turn right" etc. At first, I didn't like
that, but after using it for a few weeks I do find it better, less
confusing.

But your problem seems odd - do you mean that it works only every 4th
or 5th time you power it on, or different routes, or what? A call to
tech support is pobably the thing to do; plan to wait.

Can you choose different routes on the C330? Like toill roads, no toll roads
etc?

Route planning is very minimal. You can specity shortest distance or
fastest time. You can specify your type of vehicle. You can avoid
U-turns, highways, toll roads, unpaved roads, and carpool lanes.
That's it.

Anyone know what the significance of that option is?

I'd assume weight and size limitations, i.e. if you're on a motorcycle
you may not be able to travel on certain highways or parkways, if
you're in a heavy truck you may be routed around smaller brisdges and
tunnels.
