Author Locks codes?

I bought a used GPS60Map off Ebay for Geocaching and was able to obtain
a copy of MapSource from a friend but I am not sure how to unlock the
maps. What exactly does that mean and could someone post the lock codes
for me.

Thanks

Lock codes cost MONEY! No one here is going to pass along their own Unlock
code! It should have come with a built in Base Map, and the Mapsource Trips
and Waypoint Manager CD. If you want to use better Maps of City Select or
City Navigator, your going to have to pay up! Since you don't have a
Original copy, you'll have to pay full price. Luckily Garmin just dropped
the prices quite a bit a few weeks ago. Next time know what your buying on
Ebay before you make a bid. Going to www.garmin.com before placing a bid on
that Item would have let you know what it does and doesn't come with to
compare with what was being Auctioned.

They`re not listing prices for some products on their site (such as
CS:EU) - I was curious whether they`d dropped it below the cost of the
same maps bundled with hardware.

Log onto Limewire and do searches under "mapsource" and "garmin".

There are plenty of "cracked" maps that will work with your GPS and you
won't have to pay Garmin's outlandish prices.

Merry Christmas people!

Today I rec a StreetPilot c320 as a gift. It seems great but I am used
to using a laptop with MS 2005. This small device will be more
practical, but does seem somewhat limited when you are used to a 17"
screen.

While searching through the City Select N America V6 Software CD, I
noticed an "unlockmap.exe" (or somthing similar) and clicked it. It
asked for a 25 digit number to unlock additional maps.

It appears I was able to transfer state maps just fine so far. So what
will I gain by unlocking maps? Please explain in GPS 101 since I am new
to this.

Thanks in advance, James

I find putting a 17" laptop on my dashboard inconvenient

You will like the C320. But be sure to read the manual.

If the CD came with the unit, look in the package for a small yellow
slip of paper in multiple languages. If present it will have your
unlock and registration codes.

The City Select Maps will give you detail down to the street
and address level - complete with businesses/attractions/etc
around any area.

You say you can download the state maps but I coubt if you
have access to the detailed information. For that you need
the code that came with the unit.

Steve, I can DL detailed info for any state I choose until my SD card
gets full. It will find address for those states entered including
businesses, etc... I didn't have to enter any unlock codes to do this,
that is why I am not sure what you guys are talking about.

Phil, I didn't have my laptop on the dash, I fabricated a bracket so
that it actually worked very well over the console and screen was
against dash, in front of the radio. Really works well in my suv, but
my other car is smaller and there is no room for it.

Once you are used to all the options & features using a laptop, you get
spoiled.

My cars are all "smaller"; my SUV is a Honda CR-V and the other car is a
Civic (and they are the same length and turning radius!)

It may be this. The C320 comes with "CitySelect NT Preprogrtammed"
about which the website says:

> compatible Garmin products.

It may be that, because this data cannot be used with (for example, my
SP-3 and 60C), that they have basically bypassed the unlocking process.

And at the C320 page there is no mention of "unlock" as there is at (for
example) the 2610 page.

So maybe it is the case that you do not need to unlock.

And 512 MB SD cards are listed under the C320 accessory link.

If you can do that and transfer the data to the GPS from the
laptop then someone/somewhere already unlocked the maps.
