Author YANQ ... Yet Another Newbie Question :-)

OK, so I'm just about to buy a new Garmin 2720 ... when I "discover" the
Quest 2, which has an internal battery, so the Quest can be used as a
portable hand-held, for hiking and such. The Quest is also a couple of
hundred $$ less too (not the major attraction for me,but I'll take it!
(yes, I know, I'm being a bit fickle here :-)

Looking at a comparison chart on the Garmin web site
(http://www.garmin.com/mobile/compare.jsp), it seems like these two units
are fairly similar. I am not interested in the 2720's Traffic reports (I'm
not near a city that has the service). I'd lose the 2720's "text-to-speech"
capability (that would be missed).

The Quest has a smaller screen and fewer waypoints (500 vs 2000) - but, ah,
I'm not even sure what they are *blush*.

They both require an external speaker for voice prompt directions. Quest has
less "extra" memory (140MB vs 740MB).

The 2720 description says "ready to use out of the box", the Quest
description does not; but they both say "preloaded map", so I don't know why
the Quest would not work right out of the box too ...

Does anyone have any other insights - advantages/disadvantages that a newbie
might not see?

Any help appreciated ... Thanks
