Garmin Quest External Antenna Question
|
|
|
| I have just purchased a Garmin Quest. It works fine in two of my
vehicles, but when I put it in the vehicle I drive daily, it is very
difficult to aqquire satellites unless I put it in a very awkward
position. My question is, can anyone suggest an external antenna with
a short cable, say less than 3', that I could lay on my dash and
connect to the receiver? I am trying to get away from having 10-15' of
cable running to a mag mount rooftop antenna if I can help it. Thanks
for any suggestons that you can make.

It would seem logical to get whatever accessory external antenna Garmin
sells for the unit.

I use the Gilsson the you can order it with cable as short as 3 feet. It
also has a windshield suction mount as an accessory

| I'd also recommend the Gilsson antenna - works at least as well as the
Garmin, comes with a variety of cable lengths, and is much less
expensive. They generally sell for a little less through their eBay
store:

As Bill said, you can get them with a 3' cable, but personally I'd opt
for a longer one. The cable is very thin and the excess length can
easily be coiled and tucked behind the GPS receiver. Having a longer
length can be handy for use in a rental car that may have a metallic
coated windshield.

| We have the Gilsson antennas with a 3' cable in stock.

| Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I will order the Gilsson and
report back how it works out.
