I have a GPS III+ and would like to use it with a laptop (driving) that I'll
buy soon. What's a good software program to use on the laptop in
conjunction with my III+? Also, will it have voice talk back?

Thanks...

Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006 is worth a try, reasonably priced too.
It is generally cheaper than DeLorme's Street Atlas 2006 and most find
the user's interface to be simpler/less confusing. And the S&T mapping
data is more accurate and up to date than SA data. Street Atlas is a
little more "full featured". Both have voice.

You will need to connect the NMEA output from the III+ a serial port on
the laptop. Doing that via a serial to USB adapter will work if you
don't have a hardware serial port.

All things considered, instead of using the III+ it might be just as
easy to pick up one of the mouse style GPS receivers like the ones from
Altina, Holux, or Rikaline. The last generation of those had very good
performance with the SiRF II chipsets and the newest models have the
SiRF III chipsets.
