Alternative software to Garmin's "Mapsource" (that came with etrex legend gps)

| Hi, I got a Garmin Etrex legend a few years ago and lately have been
trying to map out some land in detail with my etrex legend. I have
started to find that the mapsource software that came with it is
somewhat limited in what i can do with it. Are there some other
softwares that are more "industrial" versions of mapsouce? I worked
with GIS and wouldn't mind having some basic GIS (arcview in this case)
type features. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers

make your own maps using Mapdekode or cGPSMapper, with a little help
from GPSTM, TTQV4, MapEdit or OziExplorer.

You can also upgrade to the latest version of MapSource for free at
the Garmin web site. They have added many functions lately. What do
you envision as an industrial version of the program?
