Is it here in the U.S.? If so, go to a program (Ozi Explorer comes to
mind first) that can use the free USGS Digital Raster Graphics. You
could then record tracks and waypoints on your Etrex and and display
them over the DRG images. And you could edit the DRG images to add
detail like features and boundaries. The DRG are electronic images of
the widely used USGS 1:24K paper topo maps.
