What is the safe method for determining the firware version of the GPSmap
76C? I seem to remember reading that one of the keys is held down during
power-up, but I also have heard that holding down one of the keys will
create problems. Can someone set me straight on this? Many thanks.

Do the following keystrokes from the startup page:
Menu/Menu/Setup(enter)/System(enter)/Menu/Software Version(enter)

Is there an About... screen from the Setup or one of the other menus?
That is where that can be found on some others.
