newbie: is there a way to subset mapsource maps??

| i just got an etrex vista c; my first gps. it has 24mb, which i
figured would be enough for most uses. i purchased city navigator v7
and discoveredthat 24mb is not. i live in the metropolitan
washington dc area. in order for me to completely cover the 40mile
radius that defines the metro area, i would need to include three maps
(norther maryland, southern maryland, and norfolk va), which totals
43mb; about 75% of which covers areas i don't travel regularly enough
to keep loaded.
so. is there a way to subset the maps so i can exclude the uneeded
areas in the individual maps?? are there any aftermarket tools to do
this?? i'd like to draw a 40mile radius circle, centered on the us
capital and make a mapsource "map" from that. my guess is something
like this is too practical to exist. ;)
if not, i'll have to return this unit for a 60cs (which i bought my
father-in-law for christmas last year) or completely jump the garmin
ship for the magellan explorist 400/500/600 series with unlimited sd
capability.
comments appreciated.

nevermind. i just discovered in a later post that city navigator is
designed with bigger chunks and hence isn't appropriate for the vista
c. poop. i'm out a bunch of money.
