| Greetings everyone. I own a RINO 120 and recently I've come across a eBay
auction claiming that the RINO 120 has a hidden thermometer display, voltage
reading, and other useful data. Can anyone here validate the claims? Per
perhaps enlighten me as well as the community by sharing the information on
how one can view that data? I know voltage reading is rather important to me
as I use NiMH batteries and always want to know the actual voltage then the
laymen 3-4 bar GUI display.
This is the eBay auction that claims it has the data.

Here is the caption of what it says if some of you are low on computer
resources and can't open up another window.

BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE!!!: Winning Bidder will also receive information on
how to access a hidden screen in your RINO that displays temperature and
actual voltage of battery plus other useful information at no extra charge.
You will not find this information in your manual!! This information will be
included on your packing slip!!

Thank kindly in advance to those that can help.

| What a Deal!!!!! All he/she is giving away are the key presses to get
into Diagnostic mode - I believe all the following should work with the
Rino 120. I know getting to the diagnostic page does.
Hold ENTER (push in on the joystick button) while turning the unit ON.
This opens the diagnostics page. Here you will see temperature in
Centigrade (of the Rino, not necessarily outside temp - unless of
course your Rino has been sitting outside turned off for several hours,
;-) And the battery voltage is there. You can test the operation of
all keys as well on that page.
Press PAGE multiple times brings up additional diagnostic screens. This
is just screen contrast pages and alignment.
ON+PAGE clears the almanac, and ON+MENU is an erase of stored GPS
calibration and waypoint information!
This also works for the Garmin's GPS-60C Color unit. Probably others
also.

| JB,
Thank you for the help. Just to validate the information you wrote, I tried
this on my RINO 120 and it works. I got 22C on the temp in the room. :) I
guess the RINO 120 oes have a build in thermometer after all. Now the
question is what is the RINO 120's voltage operating range? In the
diagnostics menu I got a voltage of 3.91v using 3 x 1.2v NiMH @ 1850 mAh.
On a side thought, is there a way to change the voltage drop off point? Like
I'm assuming that if the RINO drops past 3.00v it will shut off the unit
completely. Would be nice to see what the critical power settings are. I own
a Palm T2 PDA and on it I got some software that tells me the battery levels
in percentages, current power level, and critical voltage before shutdown.
I'm just wondering if the cigarette adaptor is worth buying. I don't drive
to often but tend to take my bike. I do have a Isun Battpak (
www.icpglobal.com -> Products -> Isun ) which has a cig-port in there and I
can rack out 10 x AA/AAA/N for a portable power pack. Very versatile system.
