How to address on 276c
|

| I'm researching as to whether to purchase a 276c or the 2610.
I've downloaded the owner manuals and have been going over it, but I can't
figure out how to enter a street address in the 276c.
Can this be done while in the car, or do I have to do it using some software
on my computer?
Can I even make it go from my home address to a business or home address
that's not listed in their database?
Thanks all.

What do you want the GPS for..? The 276c is primarily a marine unit
whereas the 2610 is a road navigation device. If, as I suspect, you want
an in-car navigation unit, the 2610 is the better one IMHO.

| Because I have a 40 foot boat I sail on the Chesapeake Bay. It would be nice
to kill two birds with one stone.

It's not mentioned in the GPSr's manual as it's a map feature.

You can do it in the car.

Not by entering the address (as it can not find addresses, it
doesn't know), but by routing to a point indicated by the map
pointer or stored in a waypoint.

| You need to have street level detail maps loaded to do routing, but assuming
you do (City Select), then yes, you can enter addresses in the 276C and have
it route you to the address from your present location.
It is possible you won't be able to find the specific address you are trying
to enter. In that case the GPS will offer you several choices that are as
close as it can come. You can then select one of those which should get you
near where you want to go.
