I live in the UK and I bought a GPSMap 60C off ebay, but the one I bought
was from a private seller, and it was in mint condition with the Atlantic
base map. If you read the small print for all the GPS that are sold on ebay
that are imported from the USA they all have an Americas base map. This is
built into the GPSMAP 60C and cannot be changed. Usually there are
statements in bold like "loaded with European mapping" or includes UK/Europe
software (Identical to Metroguide Euro V6), free of charge, but they still
have an Americas base map. Metroguide mapping does not do auto routing with
turn-by-turn directions. You need City Select maps before the GPSMap 60c
will auto route. If your unit has an Americas base map and you install a
detailed map section of Norway, once you navigate out with that section.
There will be no map detail on your GPS, only the coordinates. If you have a
GPS with the Atlantic base map and you navigate to a position out with that
detailed section of mapping, you will then see the base map. I have had a
look at the base map detail for Norway on my own GPSMap 60C and there is a
lot of detail there. Main roads and towns, lakes and so on. The following
text is off the Garmin site and shows what detail to expect on the base map
for your area.

Hope this helps, Cheers, Dave.

This basemap comes factory installed with the GPSMAP 60, GPSMAP 60C, GPSMAP
60CS, eTrex Legend C, and eTrex Vista C.

Garmin mapping units come with built-in, permanent basemaps that cannot be
altered. These basemaps come in a variety of global designations (i.e.,
Atlantic basemap). Please see your local dealer when purchasing a Garmin
mapping unit to ensure that you are purchasing one with a basemap that's
appropriate for your location and needs. Factory-installed basemaps cannot
be altered.

The Atlantic Recreational Routable Basemap v2 includes Europe, extreme
western Russia, Africa, and the Middle East, and covers an area from N75 to
S60 Latitude, W30 to E60 Longitude. Also included is a high-level worldwide
map with political boundaries and major cities.

Standard map coverage includes:

a.. Oceans, rivers and lakes (greater than 30 square miles)
b.. Principal cities and some small cities and towns
c.. Major motorways and/or interstates and principal highways
d.. Political boundaries (state and international borders)
e.. Major Airports
A. Iceland, Great Britain, Baltic States, Denmark, Germany, Benelux, France,
Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria, Italy and Southern Africa (up to S20
Latitude) - In addition to the standard map coverage, these areas also
include:

1. Lakes greater than 5 square miles, major streams and rivers

2. Exit data for major motorways and/or interstates (Europe Only)

3. Small cities and towns
