Of course, not having auto-routiung or a basemap does not make the device
useless. it will still tell you where you are in any number of coordinate
systesm and datum that can be used with a paper map, and the map page will
still show your relative position to known waypoints. It may not be as
usefull, but if you can get a good price, it will be at least as useful as
any non-mapping GPS.

Personally, I rarely, if ever use the America's basemap for auto-routing.
It simply is not detailed or accurate enough to really be of much use to me.
On the other hand, America City Select costs a third or less then the
European version, so it is not nearly as big an issue for me to purchase it.
