| Can you explain why it isn't as good. Will a 2GB card hold all the hard
drive holds? How big is the hard drive? I want to put on the Mapsource
Canada maps. Do you know how much room they take? Are these maps accessible
to the machine so that it can navigate with them like the built in? Thanks.

A 2GB card holds the entire City Nav package with a couple hundred MB to
spare for additional maps. This is the size of the microdrive in the 2620.
Other factors to consider: you do not get the maps on CD with the 2620
which means you cannot do any route planning on your computer at home
(this is very handy, as your computer has a much bigger screen than
the 2620). Not having the map CDs also means that, should you buy
another GPS in the future, you will not be able to use your existing
City Nav maps on that unit.
With the 2610, you get the maps on CD and can unlock them for 1 additional
GPS unit (such as a handheld) that you might purchase later on.

In addition to all that, the microdrive in the 2620 is much more prone to
damage by vibration. A dealer I know will not sell 2620's to motorcyclists
for this reason.

| At the time I bought my 2620, the price CostCo was offering was lower than
the lowest 2610 I could find. I wasn't aware of the software differences at
that time. :-( . Subsequently, I bought a 2GB CompactFlash for it to
replace the microdrive, and it's much much faster.
I just wish there were a reasonably price way to obtain maps for using in
Europe. We're heading over to Spain next month, and I've really gotten
addicted to GPS navigation. Maybe we can get a GSP as an option in our
rental car...

you can use it on your 2620. I`ll be ordering it myself later I think...
