You could try to contact Garmin with the serial number (unit ID) of the
SPIII (Menu - Menu - System Info). They have the codes in their DB but
I think they'd need some proof that you rightfully purchased the GPS.
If you can still contact the person you bought it from you can ask them
to export the unlock code from their PC or if they still have the
coupon code (on a yellow paper that came with the GPS) you can retrieve
it from http://www.garmin.com/unlock/
